A Giving Circle is  a type of Social Investment Club created when individuals with similar interests or backgrounds come together, pool their dollars and decide where to donate their collective contributions.   Giving Circles are an excellent method of learning about the local community and focusing on those areas where the collective philanthropy of the group can make a difference.  Each Giving Circle is unique and can be formal with officers and structure or informal, simply allowing members to pools funds to make a donation to a common cause.

I have enjoyed participating and learning about philanthropy through  the Next Generation of African American Philanthropists, a Giving Circle based in Raleigh, NC.
